ASTACAP Exams held May 22, 2010

MD/DC ASTACAP exams were held on Saturday, May 22, 2010, at the Benjamin T. Rome School of Music, Catholic University, in Washington, D.C.

Taking the exam were 55 students from the studios of 12 teachers.
ASTACAP Acting Chair Mark Pfannschmidt submitted the following information:

Number of students:
Violinists: 47
Violists: 7
Cellists: 1

Number of students in various levels:
Foundation: 6
Level 1: 4
Level 2: 3
Level 3: 7
Level 4: 8
Level 5: 10
Level 6: 5
Level 7: 5
Level 8: 4
Level 9: 2
Level 10: 1

Distribution of grades:
V (Very Good) (including some V- and V+): 37 students
S (Satisfactory) (including a few S- and several S+): 15 students
N (Needs Improvement): 0 students
Comments Only: 3 students

The following teachers sent their students:
Klara Berkovich, Julianna Chitwood, Lorraine Combs, Margo Guillory, Slavica Ilic, Larry Keiffer, Anne Marie Patterson, Mark Pfannschmidt, Jean Provine, Judy Shapiro, Cathy Stewart, and Chienmo Wu.

The examiners were:
Emily Campbell, Dorée Huneven, Hilde Singer, Doug Wolters and Eleanor Woods.

All the teachers, plus other volunteers and examiners, enjoyed delicious sandwiches, fruit, and snacks that were underwritten by our chapter. The moments of teacher camaraderie and welcome shop talk was a bonus.

We are pleased to offer the ASTACAP to our fellow teachers and their students.
